” I think Photoshop and Sai Make a great team!”                                  I really do. People always say “Sai’s better” ” Photoshop’s used by more professionals” Ect. trying to prove which is better. but they work really well together. Photoshop and Sai pick up each other weaknesses ( weak blending, lack of filters.) I usually use sai for sketching and line-art, Photoshop for flat colours, then back to sai for shading, and finally use PS for backgrounds and filters. The .psd files make it easy to transfer layers and layer affects as well! If you haven’t tried to use both programs on one piece of art yet, I would highly recommend it!

Damn totally right!

“miku in vatican” by silverwing on pixiv: http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=286534 (I believe this drawing is a great example of anime that has good anatomy, coloring, composition, and style that makes it unique)
I get a little annoyed when people say they hate anime because of “desu” art, bad anatomy, blah blah blah. It’s true in some cases, but it shouldn’t be applied to ALL anime artists. However, if you’re a person who complains/blames that anime limited them from drawing something new, then I get REALLY annoyed.
Don’t blame anime for your bad drawing habits.
It pisses me off someone says “Oh, I can’t draw in any other style other than anime!” or “I can’t draw realism because of anime!” Bull. Total bull. It’s not because of anime. It’s your fault.
Why? Let me explain. Anime did not restrain you from drawing something different; it’s you who can’t draw something different. It’s about practice. Practice, practice and practice! Keep in mind that practicing also means experimenting.
Although saying “bad habits” is a little harsh, but what I mean by this is when you continue drawing in the same style without studying or experimenting. Study anatomy or composition or experiment. You don’t need to start a new style right off the bat; gradually improve and change your style.
So to sum things up, blaming anime is a lame excuse that you suck (in kinder words, you haven’t practiced drawing long enough). As an artist and a person who draws in an anime style, I can say that I don’t have trouble drawing in another style. Many artists can say this because they practiced.
And here’s some encouragement… Drawing anime is not bad. Drawing cartoons is not bad. Drawing realism is not bad. Drawing in any style is not bad. Don’t listen to people who say otherwise because if you like to draw it, then do so. Drawing should be enjoyable. But it is your responsibility to practice, to experiment, to be patient, and to strive to improve. That is how to become a better artist.

I give this post a thumbs up!

(Ironically, my grammar is probably pretty bad LOL.)

Sometimes i have some trouble with the typos but since i seen many people who have the same problem, i think that it’s quite normal in a way.
